Is incineration or landfill better?22 January 2008
Neither are great.
Instead, Friends of the Earth supports waste reduction, re-use and recycling.
80% of municipal solid waste being incinerated or landfilled could be recycled or composted.
Incineration and landfill increase environmental problems and pose health risks.
If the Government taxed incineration it would encourage more recycling.
Friends of the Earth is campaigning against new incinerators.
