Is waste incineration or landfill better?

Friends of the Earth supports waste reduction, re-use and recycling.

80% of municipal solid waste being incinerated or landfilled could be recycled or composted.

Incineration and landfill increase environmental problems and pose health risks.

If the government taxed incineration it would encourage more recycling.

Friends of the Earth is campaigning for:

• No new incinerators to be built.
• Doorstep recycling for every household.
• At least half of all household waste to be recycled by 2010.
