Ask your MP to sign important Early Day Motions

The Planning Bill is currently going through Parliament.

Friends of the Earth supports some reform but it's clear the Bill as it stands is bad news for your rights and the environment.

The Planning Bill proposes:

  • New planning body
Unaccountable and unelected, the Infrastructure Planning Commission (IPC) will have the power to make decisions on major developments
  • Ignoring climate change
The IPC won't have to consider climate change when approving these major developments
  • Loss of rights
You'll lose your right to a say in person at public inquiries.

MPs have tabled 4 parliamentary petitions (Early Day Motions - EDMs) about the Planning Bill. EDMs are a way for MPs to express their concern over an issue and bring it to the attention of other MPs.

These four EDMs address the Planning Bill's attack on your rights and its failure to ensure the IPC considers climate change.

Email your MP asking him or her to sign EDMs 603 to 606 in order to make sure that all MPs are aware of these major shortcomings in the Planning Bill and to use their votes to improve it.
