Government food advisers comments "patronising"
8 July 1999
Commenting on comments made by the Government's Advisory Committee on Novel Foods and Processes (ACNFP) at the launch of its annual report, Pete Riley, Senior Food Campaigner at Friends of the Earth said:
I'm sure that the public will not be reassured by patronising comments from committee members about their 'very poor' understanding of GM foods. The truth is that no-one knows what the long-term impact of these foods will be on human health and the environment because not enough research has been carried out. Ms Bainbridge would be better employed calling for more research rather than promoting this improperly tested technology.
