Foe calls for public transport renaissance

Responding to today's announcement from the Chancellor Gordon Brown allocating substantial increases in spending on transport, Tony Bosworth, Transport Campaigner at Friends of the Earth said:
"Transport certainly looks a big winner, but the critical question is how will John Prescott spend the money. Will he look backwards, and finance an expansion in road building; or forwards, and fund a renaissance in public transport and comprehensive and practical alternatives to the car?"
