FOE Welcomes Green Technology Challenge

Following the Government's announcement of the consultation on the first Green Technology Challenge, Dr Tim Jenkins, Head of Policy and Research at Friends of the Earth, said:
“Rewarding mainstream industry for investing in innovative technologies to cut pollution and increase resource productivity makes good environmental and economic sense. If adequately funded the Green Technology Challenge will also provide a significant boost to the UK environmental industries sector.
“The Green Technology Challenge was the one piece of good news for the environment in Budget 2001. Friends of the Earth has campaigned for such a tax incentive for investments in innovative environmental technologies for several years.”
