An exciting new range of expensive and wasteful children's toys is to be launched on Friday 27th November. The launch by Friends of the Earth is timed to co-incide with International No Shop Day, and involves four additions to the Trashformer range of toys. They are:

Wonder Waster - “A wicked waste of materials and money”.
My Little Phoney - “Guaranteed to disappoint”.
The Fibby - “Talks rubbish, looks rubbish, is rubbish”.
Flip and Break Bobby - “Breaks at the touch of a button”.

  • Educational
  • Long-lasting
  • Value for money
  • Attention to detail

... these are just some of the words not associated with the new toys.

Friends of the Earth wants to see a ban on exploitative TV advertising aimed at children (so-called“pester power”). Such a ban already exists in other European countries including Sweden.

Commenting, FOE campaigner Anna Thomas said:
“Christmas is ruined for many families by grossly exploitative TV advertising aimed at kids - aiming to sell them useless products at prices their parents can't afford. It's time we cracked down on the cynical advertisers and manufacturers who rely on pester power to sell their products”.
