Prescott Transport Policy - comment

13 December 1999

Commenting on John Prescott's transport statement, Tony Bosworth, Transport Campaigner for Friends of the Earth, said

“We welcome much of what Mr Prescott has announced, but it's a mix of old, new, borrowed and blue. The new ideas and those that have worked elsewhere are welcome. But the old ideas and those simply taken from the Tories - such as building our way out of congestion - have been tried before and shown to fail.”

“If the Government really wants to tackle Britain's transport nightmare, it must cut the amount of traffic on our roads, as Labour promised at the General Election.”
