Report launch on 10/4/95

3 April 1995

On Monday 10th April, Friends of the Earth will unveil a plan to reduce the UK's impact on the world's forests through radical changes in the way wood and paper are used.

A new Friends of the Earth report - entitled 'Out of the Woods' - will show that UK consumption of wood and paper, most of which is imported from overseas, can be drastically reduced. This will, according to the report, cut the UK's import bill and create jobs, as well as helping to prevent the destruction of the world's remaining natural forests.

Specific actions will be urged from central and local government, industry, wood specifiers and designers, and the general public.

YOU ARE INVITED TO THE PRESS LAUNCH OF 'OUT OF THE WOODS', at:

Time: 11.00 am

Date: Monday 10th April

Venue: Royal Overseas League Park Place, St James's Street London SW1

There will be brief presentations by Friends of the Earth and representatives of enterprises and institutions already taking steps to make more efficient use of wood and paper. Coffee and refreshments will be provided.
