The Road Traffic Reduction Bill - a solution to Newbury's traffic problems.

25 January 1996

A PUBLIC MEETING 8.00pm on Monday 29th January Waterside Community Centre Northbrook Street Newbury

Environmentalist David Bellamy and representatives from key national and local organisations, will present the Road Traffic Reduction Bill at a public meeting in Newbury on 29th January. The meeting will discuss the Bill as a positive way of dealing with Newbury's traffic problems.

Speakers will propose lasting solutions in contrast to the controversial Newbury Bypass which will generate more traffic without addressing Newbury's traffic problems. The Road Traffic Reduction Bill [2] provides a positive way forward for the people of Newbury and for a saner Transport Policy for the UK as a whole.

This is a chance for Newbury residents to cut through the bypass debate by addressing the real issues behind, and genuine solutions to, local and national traffic problems. The meeting will give a voice to the many local people who in the past have been told that the only solution for Newbury is to build the bypass.
