Newbury Residents put nesting boxes in Bypass trees

10 March 1996

"Rickety Bridge" Nr Newbury Berkshire 11 AM Sunday 10 March

Local residents will be near the "Rickety Bridge" camp on Sunday 10 March putting nesting boxes into trees on the route of the controversial Newbury bypass. The move follows recent confirmation by the Highway's Agency that any trees containing nesting birds will not be felled. Birds are expected to start nesting shortly and it is hoped that the boxes presence will encourage them to nest there.

"Rickety Bridge" can be reached by leaving Newbury via Speen on the A4.Park by the junction with the B4000. Look out for the trashed' camp of"Granny Ash" on the left (south) of the road. A steward will be at "Granny Ash" to give you directions. It is a ten minute walk.
