Londoners invited to join Friends of the Earth's Flag Day

2 May 1996

Are you concerned about London's environment and have some time to spare on Saturday 1 June? Then you could be just the sort of person Friends of the Earth is looking for. London Flag Day is an important occasion for the Capital's 30 local Friends of the Earth groups [1] and they need your help raising funds to support their important work fighting for the environment.

It's not just an opportunity to find out more about Friends of the Earth but should also be lots of fun as well. Local groups bring the same energy to the street collection as they do to their campaigning; many of them will be dressing up in all manner of costumes, so you could be collecting with a six foot tiger or maybe even a dormouse.

Really Wild Show presenter Janice Acquah is one of Friends of the Earth's local campaigners who'll be out collecting on the day. She says:

"Friends of the Earth local groups play a vital role in informing the public about green issues and standing up for the Capital's environment and the health of its people - I hope that as many people as possible will support us on our Flag Day."
