Foe's response to Government proposals for environmental code of practice

Commenting on today's proposals from the Government for a Code of Practice on environmental claims, Tony Juniper, Campaigns Director of Friends of the Earth said:
"Whilst Friends of the Earth welcomes any initiative to tighten up on false green claims we believe that the proposed code of practice should be statutory rather than voluntary. Furthermore, the public has a right to know about the entire environmental impact of the product, not just the information which the companies choose to give them."
"Finally we would like consumers to be given information about all the products they buy, and not just for those few so-called 'green' products that are found on the shelves."
