9 September 1997

A Friends of the Earth analysis of BT data shows that traffic congestion in London costs the average London houshold £675 per year [1]. That is over £280 per Londoner per year.

All in all, traffic congestion costs the capital almost £2 billion annually.

Roger Higman, Senior Transport Campaigner at Friends of the Earth said:

“Congestion is hitting every Londoner where it hurts - in their wallet. That is why every Londoner will gain if the Road Traffic Reduction (UK Targets) Bill gets passed. That is why we want every Londoner to come to the Fuming Mad rally on September 27th.” [2]
