Anti-green Chancellor threat to the economy - Friends of the Earth Conference 2012
David Cameron must take urgent action to 'stop his anti-green Chancellor from sending the UK hurtling down a gas-dependent road to nowhere and leaving an impoverished economic and environmental legacy for generations to come', Friends of the Earth’s Executive Director Andy Atkins told attendees at the environment charity's annual conference today (Saturday 15 September 2012).
Friends of the Earth’s Executive Director Andy Atkins said:
“The UK’s future wellbeing is under assault from a Chancellor whose reckless agenda threatens jobs, businesses and our precious environment.
“While the UK has stumbled ever deeper into recession, the green economy has grown strongly – but rather than building on this success, George Osborne has gone out of his way to undermine it.
“The nation is approaching an important crossroads, with the Government poised to make key decisions on transport, energy, housing and infrastructure.
“Unless it rapidly changes direction this administration will be judged as the Government that not only wrecked our environment, but trashed our economy too.
“David Cameron must take urgent action to stop his anti-green Chancellor from sending the UK hurtling down a gas-dependent road to nowhere - and leaving an impoverished economic and environmental legacy for generations to come.”
