Cameron urged to give forest sell-off the chop
16 February 2011
Commenting on David Cameron's admission today at Prime Minister's Question Time that he wasn't happy with the Government's flagship policy on forests - and that biodiversity and access to them should be increased, Friends of the Earth's campaigner Martyn Williams said:
"We're delighted the Prime Minister recognises the need for UK forests to have more wildlife and greater public access.
"New laws currently going through Parliament to allow publicly-owned UK forests to be sold off must be urgently amended to reflect these concerns.
"But better still would be the recognition that our forests are better-off under public ownership - and that Government plans to sell them off should be given the chop."
