Corus to invest in offshore wind

Commenting on the announcement that Corus is to invest in offshore wind in Teeside, Friends of the Earth's north east campaigner Simon Bowens said:
"This is fantastic news - by investing in offshore wind at Teeside, Corus will make the area a hub for green manufacturing, creating new British jobs in an industry that will cut carbon emissions and improve energy security.
"Friends of the Earth highlighted the potential of the North East for offshore wind at the time the steel plant closed.
"Now we need a guarantee from Government that the new Green Investment Bank will get sufficient funding to develop a low-carbon economy nationwide, making the UK a world leader in renewable energy and building a cleaner, more prosperous future for us all."
