Death of Hugh Montefiore

Friends of the Earth was saddened to learn today of the sudden death of the Right Reverend Hugh Montefiore who served as a trustee for the organisation from 1983 - 2004.
Friends of the Earth's Executive Director Tony Juniper said:
"Hugh made an outstanding contribution to our work for more than two decades. He was a tireless campaigner for the environment whowas never afraid of controversy or challenging accepted wisdom. His energy was boundless. He remained abreast a huge range of issues, and was an effective activist to the very last. Hugh was certainly one of those people who made a difference and inspired many with his energy and passion."
