Commenting on the news that the oil giant Exxon Mobil is still funding climate sceptic organisations, Friends of the Earth's head of climate change Mike Childs said:

“During what may well go down as the hottest year on record, it’s even more ironic that Exxon Mobil continues to fund climate sceptic groups.

 “The vast majority of climate scientists agree that man-made climate change is a reality and will have devastating effects unless urgent action is taken – continuing to thwart strong action to tackle this global threat is grossly irresponsible.”
