Friends of the Earths Launches 'Mad About' Lesson Plans

14 February 2006

Friends of the Earth today launched the `Mad About' series of lesson plans that will help primary school teachers bring the big environmental issues of the day to life inside the classroom.

The lesson plans, for use at Key stage one and two, cover climate change, waste and recycling, food, air pollution, natural habitats and tropical rainforest and link with the syllabus in geography, citizenship, ICT and English. The new resource is part of the Mad About range which includes booklets and posters designed for children between the ages of 6 and 10.

Friends of the Earth's education coordinator, Vicki Felgate, said: "Helping children understand the changing world they live in has never been more important. The Mad About lesson plans contain lots of exciting ideas on how to explore issues such as climate change in a simple and engaging way."

Mad About lesson plans and booklets can be downloaded for free from www.foe.co.uk/learning/educators/resource/
