Geneva Motor Show - Greener cars must be the future
2 March 2011
Commenting on the Geneva Motor Show (3-13 March 2011) where a range of green and gas-guzzling vehicles are on show, Richard Dyer, Friends of the Earth's transport campaigner, said:
"The motor industry must do more to tackle the twin challenges of rising oil prices and global climate change.
"Car manufacturers have been stuck in the slow lane when it comes to developing greener cars that burn less fuel - and now we're all paying the price.
"Binding EU energy-efficiency standards for new cars must be strengthened when they are reviewed next year, and governments must take tougher action on gas-guzzlers."
