Government to introduce 'happiness index'

Commenting on reports that the Government is poised to start measuring people's psychological and environmental wellbeing, Friends of the Earth's economy campaigner Simon Bullock said:
"Mr Cameron is right that when it comes to the economy it's not just size that matters - growth that wrecks the environment will not improve our overall quality of life.
"It's vital the UK prioritises low-carbon industries such as energy efficiency and renewable energy to pull us out of recession - this sector will generate thousands of jobs and help secure a clean, green future at the same time."
