Emissions highest in history
31 May 2011
Commenting on new estimates by the International Energy Agency (IEA) which show that, after a dip in 2009 caused by the global financial crisis, emissions last year rose to their highest ever level on record, Friends of the Earth's Head of Climate Mike Childs said:
"It's not too late to stop dangerous climate change if the world acts now - and fast.
"We need to take a three-pronged approach to cutting emissions by saving energy, reducing demand, and developing safe and renewable alternatives to polluting fossil fuels.
"These opportunities are good news for the economy - investing in green industries in the UK will cut fuel bills and create new jobs."
