In response to Lord Stern’s renewed call for urgent global action on climate change after admitting yesterday that he “badly underestimated the degree of damages and the risks of climate change” in his ground-breaking 2006 report, Friends of the Earth Executive Director Tony Juniper said:
“Lord Stern is rightly calling for a massive step-up in the effort to tackle climate change. The UK Government urgently needs to ramp up investment in energy efficiency and renewables and strengthen the Climate Change Bill to include 80% cuts in carbon dioxide emissions by 2050.”
