TV comics star alongside talking cow in farmyard farce
21 October 2010
TV funnymen Alistair McGowan, Simon Day and Rhys Thomas have joined thousands of people calling on the Government to back rainforest-free food by appearing in a new short film for Friends of the Earth.
The Fast Show's Simon Day and Rhys Thomas star as hapless detectives certain they've rumbled the leader of a major crime racket in 'Moodunit?' with Alistair McGowan playing the voice of their target - an innocent cow.
Friends of the Earth is highlighting the environmental impact of factory farming and calling on the Government to help fund planet-friendly farms instead.
Rhys Thomas said:
"It's criminal that £700 million of taxpayers' money props up damaging factory farms which drive rainforest destruction in South America.
"Join the MOOvement and ask your MP to support Friends of the Earth's campaign for rainforest-free food."
Simon Day said:
"We spent a day filming on a farm where cows can graze and are treated well. Farms like this should be the norm - not factory farms that are trashing the planet.
"I want to see the Government supporting thriving, planet-friendly British farming instead of factory farms."

The film was made by David Williams, director of Helen Baxendale's production company Shooting Pictures, which also produced global warming comedy Beyond the Pole.
