Press release
Nocton super dairy plans withdrawn
16 February 2011
Commenting on reports that farmers have withdrawn their proposals for the UK's largest dairy, Friends of the Earth's food campaigner Sandra Bell said:
"We're pleased that plans to cram cows into massive sheds in Lincolnshire have been ditched.
"The introduction of US-style mega-dairies would force small farmers out of business and take UK dairy farming towards an environmentally-damaging future.
"Instead we need better Government support for extensive outdoor cattle-grazing to help create a greener, thriving farming sector."
