North Sea oil spills are further reason to switch to green energy
16 August 2011
Commenting on the Shell oil spills in the North Sea, Friends of the Earth's Head of Science, Policy & Research Mike Childs said:
"It's shocking that in the wake of the BP disaster last year, Shell has tried to keep the largest North Sea oil spills for a decade hush-hush.
"Warning bells should be ringing in David Cameron's ears.
"The only way to protect our environment and secure affordable energy supplies for the future is by developing green and safe alternatives to dirty fossil fuels.
"The Government should be acting fast to develop the UK's huge potential for renewable power and energy saving - protecting wildlife and creating hundreds of thousands of jobs."
