Wind costs to fall by third by end of decade

Commenting on a new report launched today (Wednesday 13 June 2012) by the industry-led Offshore Wind Cost Reduction Task Force which shows the UK is on course to substantially cut the cost of electricity from offshore wind over the next seven years, Friends of the Earth's Head of Campaigns Andrew Pendleton said:
"With soaring gas prices and huge concern about the Alice in Wonderland economics of nuclear power, the answer to our energy challenges really could be blowing in the wind.
"The costs of wind power have been falling for years - and this report shows they're on course to be slashed again by the end of the decade.
"It's time the Government pulled the plug on its dangerous and expensive obsession with gas and nuclear and developed the huge potential of clean British energy such as wind - to boost the economy, create jobs and help free households from rocketing fuel bills."
