To celebrate Friends of the Earth's 40th anniversary, I've been talking to some of the supporters who've made it all possible. Eva Holmes (right) is an administrator with a handle on the good life.

"I've had my electric bike for nearly a year - and it's fabulous.

"I live on a hill and work on a hill, so it really helps. I cycle a lot more now I've got it.

"My other passion is my allotment. I work mornings only, so spend most afternoons there.

"I grow beetroots, leeks, tomatoes, broad beans, spinach - anything I can.

It's good to know I'm feeding my family organic vegetables.

"I would avoid anything that's been flown around the world, but it's hard, you have to compromise. So yes, I do eat bananas."

Next week: Lisa Fairtlough. To see all the supporters I've interviewed, visit our 40th anniversary gallery.

And if you fancy a cycle challenge check out the Big Green Bike Ride.
