Have your say on the big ideas

This month's big questions.

This month in Big Ideas Change the World former London mayor Ken Livingstone accuses national governments of being "absolutely pathetic". He argues that networked cities have a pivotal role in creating a better future. And he says strong mayors are critical.

  • What do you think? Will cities be more important than national governments to shaping the future?

Professor Harriet Bulkeley and colleagues from Durham University argue that cities need more autonomy

  • What do you think about increasing the power of cities? What powers should be devolved and why? What do you think about the devolution of power within cities?

Jane Thomas from Friends of the Earth argues that citizens' positive identification with their city is critical to well-being. But she warns financial constraints on cities leading to poor social housing and degraded local environments - so eroding that positive relationship.

  • Do you think people identify with the city they live in? Does it matter?

Please talk to us below about these or any other big ideas.

Thanks.
