The Boards of Friends of the Earth
Friends of the Earth consists of two separate companies which work closely together: Friends of the Earth Trust and Friends of the Earth Limited.

When pressed would call himself an 'educationalist', but now committed exclusively to the voluntary sector, promoting environmental and social justice. Steering Group member of Transition Ireland and Northern Ireland (TIN). Board Member of Warrenpoint Harbour Authority. Heads up a consultancy company called 'New Way Solutions' that focuses on the interface between environmental idealism and commercial practice. |

Studied at Manchester University. Following a career promoting school councils, she has established Project Earth Rock, a programme to teach about sustainability and climate change through song. John Halladay

John's particular interests in the environmental field include recycling, the concept of individual carbon allowances and the effect of increasing world population on the environment. He works as a Human Resources consultant greening the employment practices in UK companies and is also the joint co-ordinator of Bracknell & District Friends of the Earth. |

Career includes working in both the public and private sectors in finance and also on large scale change projects. A Chartered Accountant, was also awarded a Postgraduate Diploma, with distinction, in Charity Accounting and Financial Management at the Cass Business School in London in 2008. Enjoys walking, listening to jazz, cryptic crosswords and is a season ticket holder at Watford FC. |

Martin Price

With a background in teaching, I have degrees in Geography and Sociology, and Educational Management. I have been an active member of Friends of the Earth since 1973 and previously served on the FOE Boards in the 1980's and 1990's. My particular campaign interests are in areas of energy policy, transport and resource use. |

Roger Clarke

Roger has a lifetime's interest in the relationship between people and the environment, and the search for sustainable patterns of living. He is Chair of Think Global which promotes learning for a just and sustainable world. He brings a combination of high level organisational experience having been a CEO of a national organisation with a strong local presence [YHA], as well as many years of board experience. Roger is keen to build the board as a team and has made it clear that he sees team-working between Chair and ED, Board, SMT and staff, as crucial for the success of the organisation. Roger has a BA in geography from Oxford University and a PhD from McGill University, Montreal. He is married with two sons and lives in Derbyshire. His interests include travel, climbing mountains, growing vegetables, running marathons, and making music. |

Simon Bernstein

Simon brings over 20 years' experience working with and for numerous charities and NGOs including over 10 years as a consultant. He has been involved with Friends of the Earth since attending 'Art Bypass' at Newbury in 1996. He became Director of Fundraising and Communications the following year and went on to double the organisation's income before leaving in 2002. Simon has a BA in History from Warwick University, an MBA from Imperial College, London, and is a Member of the Institute of Fundraising. He lives in Gloucestershire with his partner and their two children where he is a Governor and Chair of the Curriculum Committee at his local secondary school. His interests include walking, tennis, music, travel, film, food, and fiction. |

Simon Steeden

Simon is a solicitor at Bates Wells & Braithwaite, the UK's leading charity law firm. He specialises in providing commercial, financial and charity law advice to charities and social enterprises. Simon has a particular interest in social and community finance and in advising environmental organisations on campaigning activity, fundraising and community energy projects. Simon has a BA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Oxford University and lives in Oxfordshire with his wife and young daughter. His interests include wildlife photography and exploring the British coast and he hopes to help Friends of the Earth ensure that his daughter can share those interests in the future. |

Tania Sayer

Has a BSc in Biological Sciences, a PhD in animal cell biotechnology and more recent environmental qualifications. She works for an environmental charity which focuses on energy efficiency, renewable energy technologies and the alleviation of fuel poverty. Has been campaigns coordinator of South Cheshire FOE since 2005 and is passionate about Youth & Education work. Enjoys Shakespeare's plays (especially the histories), modern poetry, cooking, watching the birds in her garden, being with her family and sitting with her cat. |

Tony Burton

Tony works freelance on a wide range of community, neighbourhood planning and environmental projects. He has a strong track record in campaigning, strategy and external affairs for conservation, community, regeneration, planning and the environment. Tony founded Civic Voice - the national charity for the civic movement - in 2010. He has been a Board Director of both the National Trust and CPRE and has chaired Wildlife and Countryside Link. Tony is a member of the UK Board of the Big Lottery Fund (& chairs its Audit and Risk Committee) and Co-Chair of Defra's Civil Society Advisory Board. He was awarded a CBE in the Jubilee Honours in 2012. |

Victoria Harvey

Victoria read Classics at Durham University and then worked as a Theatre Lighting Designer and lighting Technician for companies such as Pimlico Opera, the Lyric Theatre Hammersmith and the Spot Co. She then contracted ME/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome in 1999 and not long after became involved with South Bedfordshire Friends of the Earth. She has worked on the Board of South Bedfordshire Local Strategic Partnership, East of England Regional Assembly, East of England Regional Planning Panel, chaired a steering group for an independent report jointly funded by both Buckinghamshire County Council and South Bedfordshire Friends of the Earth on alternatives to road building in the Aylesbury area. She is now the chair of the national award winning Leighton Buzzard Station Travel Plan, on the steering group of the Southern Leighton Buzzard housing development. She is coordinator of South Bedfordshire Friends of the Earth. |
