Clean British Energy

Case studies: Jobs in clean British energy

Clean British Energy is good for the economy.

37,000 people work in solar, wind and marine energy alone - from mechanical engineers and solar panel installers, to those who make the nuts and bolts that hold wind turbines together.

The Renewable Energy Association calculates that there could be more than 400,000 jobs in the renewable energy sector by 2020. This includes less talked-about forms of renewable energy, such as hydro, biomass, and geothermal power.

Here are some examples of people who are passionate about their work in renewable energy. They include younger and older people, men and women, working and studying in various parts of Britain and in very different fields.

Setting a clean energy target in the Energy Bill will create thousands more exciting job opportunities like these - for new starters, experienced workers, and career changers alike.
