Think Global - Act Local? Still relevant after 40 years?
Friends of the Earth has been ‘acting locally’ in Oxford, across the UK and around the world for over 4 decades.
How can local action be most effective in a digitally-connected post-Brexit world? How do we make a real difference?
Claire Hazelgrove is the new Director of Communities and Networks at Friends of the Earth. We're delighted to welcome Claire as guest speaker at Oxford Friends of the Earth’s Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 12 April.
Claire will talk about Friends of the Earth’s plans to develop stronger community-level action on climate change, nature and more, and about how we can link grassroots activity with on-line campaigning across the world. She has unique experience of local, regional and national grassroots campaigns having worked for Shelter and ‘Britain Stronger In Europe’, for the ‘Obama for America’ election campaign in the USA and the ONE campaign against global poverty.
Oxford Friends of the Earth’s AGM will start at 7.30 pm with a review of our work in 2016 and election of officers for 2017/2018.
Claire's talk will start at 8.15pm, followed by discussion and finishing at 9.00 pm. We'll then head to the nearby Eagle & Child pub. All welcome!
Time: 7.30-9.00 pm
Venue: The Meeting Room, Friends' Meeting House, 43 St Giles, Oxford OX1 3LW.
