Join our online economic mythbusters course
Looking to unpick the economic myths that politicians and the media have been telling us?
Is there really no money left? Do we really need to cut spending to reduce the deficit?
nef (new economics foundation), Friends of the Earth and others have teamed up to offer a free online course for campaigners, activists and organisers to answer these questions.
It'll provide you the opportunity to build skills and confidence to deconstruct the economic myths behind issues like austerity, inequality and climate change.
Myths covered will include:
- Austerity is the best way to reduce the deficit and get the economy back on track
- Excessive government spending got us into this mess
- Britain is broke - we can't afford to invest
- The City is vital to Britain
- There's nothing we can do about tax havens
How will it work?
Classes will start from Tuesday 14 May 2013 and run for 7 weeks at 18.30 - 20.00
All classes will include a live streamed lecture followed by tutorials and weekly homework.
All lectures and reading material will be downloadable and you can watch them again.
Lectures are aimed at those interested in the topics but aren't necessarily experts. Even if you are, it's a good way of testing your knowledge.
All you need is a webcam, microphone and internet access.
So what are you waiting for?
