An evening well spent with Michael Meacher

Former Environment Minister, Michael Meacher, entertained and inspired activists and supporters at this year's Members' Evening in the Black Box.

Michael Meacher was the main attraction at an event attended by supporters, activists and members of the public in Belfast on 14 October. Michael reflected on his 40 years in Parliament, his relationship with Tony Blair and his support for the Big Ask.

He also offered adivce on how to engage with Assembly members on complex issues like sustainable development.

Friends of the Earth's Senior Parliamentary Campaigner, Martyn Williams, talked about the lessons he learnt from the Big Ask campaign. His experience should prove useful in the Get in the Game campaign for a Northern Ireland Climate Change Act.

The event was well attended, with a lively question and answer session.

Earlier in the evening Michael mingled with activists and supporters and spoke positively about his experience of working with Friends of the Earth.
