Call for Paterson to go, as EA boss says Govt not the greenest
Reacting to outgoing Environment Agency Head Lord Smith’s assertion today (Thursday 26 June 2014) that David Cameron's administration has failed to live up to its promise to be "the greenest government ever", Friends of the Earth’s Head of Campaigns Andrew Pendleton said:
"Lord Smith is quite right - politicians need to be honest with people because they’ve known for years that climate change will have a devastating impact on the UK, with worse flooding and damage to coastlines and crops.
“The policy trade-off between the two coalition parties and UKIP’s dangerous dog-whistling has dragged this Government off course in tackling climate change.
"To have an Environment Secretary who disputes man-made climate change is simply ludicrous. As a first step, David Cameron must give Owen Paterson the boot as soon as possible."
