People Planet Place Youth leadership for environmental justice

People Planet Place supports marginalised young people from across Northern Ireland to develop the skills, confidence and relationships needed to tackle the climate  and nature crises.

We train and coach young people in community campaigning skills. Participants learn by carrying out real community campaigns like improving bus services, improving water quality in a local river or organising for more green space to increase biodiversity.

How we help young people's skills

“I was slowly able to become more comfortable with speaking up during group discussions and give my input without fear.”

“It built up my self-confidence and my ability to function away from home… It helped my networking skills so I’m more aware of what I can do and what opportunities there are for me in the environmental world.”

“I came into this experience with doubt and anxiety, even nearly cancelling on it altogether and I came away with new connections and experiences that will shape how I want to see the world.”

Do you work with young people?

Would you like to partner with Friends of the Earth to run this new programme and/or be part of a professional network to empower young people to get involved in environmental campaigning? You'll get full support from our youth workers, including access to staff training and our environmental leadership curriculum: My World My Home.

For organisations and workers interested in a lighter touch, we'll soon be bringing together a professional network. The network will host training, share skills and support one another to empower the young people you work with to start environmental campaigning.
